President Rodrigo Duterte confirmed the appointment of lawyer and columnist Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin as the new Philippine Ambassador to the United Nations.
Duterte said Saturday evening that Locsin already accepted his offer.
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a statement, Locsin and the President met at Bahay Pangarap.
“Gentlemen and Ladies of the MPC, the former Cong Teddyboy Locsin and I were in touch again last night and he said they indeed met at Bahay Pangarap,” Andanar said.
“Cong Locsin said he accepted the position as UN Ambassador.”
Locsin is replacing Amb. Lourdes Yparraguirre as the Philippines’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Andanar said Locsin will issue a statement on his appointment Tuesday.
